I would put it in the bank, maybe a low yield no risk investment while I go out and get a job, internship or something that gives you experience in whatever field it is I want to invest in.

Gain as much knowledge and experience as you can first then go back and ask yourself the same question.

There is a big difference between reading up about a particular subject and actually getting hands-on experience. You will notice that your mind will change a million different times until you actually figure out what the right decision is.

Just my opinion of course.

Welcome to BP, as a fellow New Yorker I can appreciate the boogie down part !

Best of luck on your journey, remember that there is no perfect deal and the most important part of doing business is actually DOING.

Feel free to reach out if you have any questions or concerns, If I don't know the answer I will help you find it !

As long as they are experienced with that states code you are fine. I would not give any one a chance that is not experienced in that particular state, regardless of how much I like them, Taxes are nothing to take a chance with.

Andrew I see your point of view, but I have always been of the mentality that you let the professionals do their jobs and you focus on what you know and what makes you money.

where are you looking specifically?

I have a contact that goes to most of the auctions in the tri state and can get you a list. But depending on the area.

I would try to come to some compromise with the tenant and hopefully make them understand that #1 they need to clean this up and #2 should other things like this continue to happen it can cost them money.

If you need an attorney I can recommend someone as I do a ton of business here in NY but hopefully you don't have to use one at all and you can come to an agreement with your tenant.

Hey @Frank Grigus Jr

Welcome to you and your wife to the Bigger Pockets community. Feel free to ask questions and reach out to people. There are a ton of resources on this site, both helpful for new and seasoned investors.

In my capacity as a Loan Officer and a Pro-Bigger Pockets member, I personally have gotten a chance to meet and help many people around the country with their residential and commercial loans; I am confident you will have the same opportunity to meet new people and network with like minded people.

For starters, I suggest that you look around for meetups in your area, here is the link https://www.biggerpockets.com/forums/521-events-and-happenings

Aside from a ton of literature this community also offers a ton of free podcasts that have been extremely helpful and educational. Here is the link to that
