Look into taking the landlord to small claims court and make sure to document EVERYTHING. How much is the security deposit? Often times crooked landlords will not give the deposit back, and pocket it because they know people will not go through the trouble to fight it for such a small amount.

Thanks for the encouragement biggerpro. I suppose you are right, I could be in the market now if I felt comfortable with the process. Until now I have been using my parents less-than-professional knowledge of the market.

Wow mach, that is a ton of interest. I was curious if anyone here knew which was better, paying an extra mortgage payment every month on a 30 year loan, or getting a 15 year loan. I have heard some people say (oddly enough) that they are equal, however I don't consider these people to be any authority on the topic. Are there any better strategies for knocking out the principle?

I am in school to be an Accountant (CPA preferrably) and will hopefully get some real estate deals going on the side.

Sticking with it and consistently taking initiative is one thing you can't buy.

Ok, here is a vent.
I HATE RENTING! As a college student (about to graduate) I hate writing that check every month toward rent that I am never going to see materialize into anything!

I get on these forums and everyone is making great money doing real estate and I'm missing out on this opportunity! ARG! :protest:

I guess it will turn around pretty soon though, I graduate soon and can get in the game.

I am rolling over my old 401k to an IRA soon and heard about this through word of mouth. They are a brokerage firm that allows you to trade (10x per day/40x per month) stocks for free and has low account minimums.

The url is zecco.com and it looks pretty legit. It has some kind of user community too.

Has anyone heard of this before? Used it?

buyandsellv is right about life not being certain. it is important to have a nest egg set aside incase you make some bad decisions (and you will) along the way. There is also peace of mind in knowing that you have some money set aside... and there is power in momentum. You may start small now, but that means you wont have to start later.

Wow, I guess that "he died of a heart attack" wasn't a lie, but definitely deceptive.

I don't know why, I just had this image of a guy having such a massive heart attack and his chest exploding all over the room, hah! As if anyone would be dumb enough to believe that. It reminds me of some middle schooler trying to pull a fast one on someone.
