My husband and I purchased our Triplex in Arlington (DALLAS/FORT WORTH AREA) as out of state investors. We moved to area afterwards but I understand how the process can be as a buyer. We chose DFW due to the opportunity in multifamily property and the price point. At your 400K price point I can find you a duplex here with multiple rental stategies.

If it will cash flow at DSCR then I would go with that! DSCR is awesome and if you have the ability to cash flow then I would always go that route. I am curious about how it cash flows at DSCR but not Conventional? I have been looking into DSCR loans and usually the rate is higher, I would love to know who your lender is if you dont mind sharing.

Each property will pose a different exit strategy whether or not you will flip or house hack. I have technically done both at the same time in the very first home i bought. If you wanna talk about it, feel free to message me.

@Jason Sung I love Arlington bc of centralized location in the metroplex, price point, STR ability, rental demand.

Hi Eduardo,

You have an interesting position for sure. I have moved out of state several times in a position like you. SInce you have two properties to rent, start with one if you can. You may have to fly back to Seattle to tie up loose ends on your properties once you get settled in Texas. I will message you, for more details.

I started out house hacking also, I recommend getting atleast 4 bedrooms to offset the mortgage. I sold that house, and bought a triplex which I now house hack as well. I dont think i will ever not house hack to be honest with you. House hacking in a SFH is just a fancy way of saying you have roommates. I can have a more in depth convo with you if you like, I am a realtor in the area.
