Hello Andrew and welcome! I am fairly new to real estate myself and I am currently going through the same process. I would like to obtain my real estate license as soon as possible this year and I currently live in Eugene, OR. I have the same question as you, what's the best way of going about it? If you end up making the move to Oregon you'll love it!

Thank you all for the great responses! I definitely do think I should keep my current job until I find something related to real estate. I have construction experience so I like that option. I definitely need to reconnect with the NWREIA group in Eugene but I am always scheduled to work on those days. Work tends to hold me back from pursuing my true interests. I have been studying, listening to podcasts, and connecting with mentors throughout the past two years.

Hello BiggerPockets family! I am a college student in Eugene, OR and I feel as though I have wasted my past three years working in the restaurant industry. I keep telling myself that it is only my job during college and I will find something related to real estate once I graduate but I feel as though I am wasting precious time. Is there any lower level way of getting involved in real estate investing or even working for a real estate office that would be more beneficial?

I took a short break from researching real estate investing in order to focus on school and my job. I am still in school but I will have more time to focus on learning about real estate investing in the next few months.

I am very interested in becoming a real estate investor but I also want to try my hand at becoming a real estate agent. I am curious to see what people would suggest. Are the time and money worthwhile investments to become a real estate agent or should I focus on real estate investing? I am a 20 year old college student and I hope I have a bright future ahead of me with a variety of different job opportunities. But should I try my hand at becoming a real estate agent?

My name is Jacob Wathen and I am fairly new to real estate investing. I currently have a "job" as a marketer for a real estate investor but I want to increase my experience in the rehab process of real estate investing because I really believe that is what I want to do. If there is anyone in Eugene or around the area that focuses on flipping I am extremely interested in learning the ropes from someone with a reasonable amount of experience.

@Andrew SyriosThank you for your feedback. I read in a previous forum that buy and hold is not the best strategy in Eugene and ideally I won't be dealing too much with student housing. I do, however, want to renovate a house and then debate whether or not it is worthwhile to hold it or just sell as quickly as possible.

@Travis Daggett I'm very interested in renovating and hopefully I will have the opportunity to do so soon.

@Brandon Turner Thank you for your information and I will definitely look into those links that you provided.

@Michael Wentzel Thank you very much for the information. I have been attempting to find a REIA in Eugene but so far I have been unsuccessful. I will continue my search as well as continue to read forums and learn as much as possible on my own. I am glad that I learned about Real Estate Investing now rather than later. It is such a fantastic opportunity that I can't believe people pass up!

Thanks again,

Jacob

Hello, my name is Jacob,

I am a 20 year old college student who has always been extremely interested in real estate and more recently investing in real estate.

I live in Eugene, Oregon and I would love to find people that are familiar with this market. I want to get into this lifestyle as quickly as possible and I have been researching quite a bit. Ideally I will find a mentor that lives nearby from whom I can learn as much as possible.

I believe that my main strategy will be buy and hold but I also love the idea of renovating anything from a house to an apartment complex. I do not want to limit myself but that is what I see myself doing so far. I would love to go even further in good time but I need to learn the ropes before I take on more than I can handle.

Thank you for your time and I hope you have a great day!
