Post: Sports Betting is Draining Savings—How Do We Get People to Bet on Real Estate Instead

I came across this article from Kellogg Insight showing how online sports betting is eating into people’s savings. Some are spending hundreds—sometimes thousands—a month, draining their financial future

As real estate investors, we know that wealth isn’t built by hoping for the next big win—it’s built by making calculated, smart moves. But with gambling being so accessible, people are throwing away home down payments without even realizing it.

💡 Are you seeing this trend in your network? Are potential buyers/investors struggling to build savings because of spending habits like this?
🤔 How do we shift the mindset from short-term thrills to long-term financial freedom through real estate?
🔥 Have you successfully helped someone redirect bad financial habits into real estate investments? Let’s discuss!

I originally got into real estate as a wholesaler before getting my license. Now I’m rebuilding my investment portfolio while helping other investors find deals. If you had to start over today with limited resources, what strategy would you focus on

- Would you start with house hacking, BRRRR, wholesaling, or another strategy?
- What’s a lesson you’ve learned that would help someone starting fresh?
- How important is having a strong agent or team when getting back into investing?

I wasn’t handed a blueprint for success—I had to build my own, piece by piece.

Right now, I’m navigating real estate while under pressure and recent setbacks . But none of that has stopped me from moving forward. I’m a licensed realtor, an investor in the making, and someone who believes in making something out of nothing.

I started in wholesaling before getting my license, and now I’m grinding to become a consistent producer while positioning myself to rebuild as an investor. Every day is about finding ways to stay productive—reading, strategizing, networking, and setting myself up for the next opportunity.

I know I’m not alone in this. Who else has had to push through setbacks to get to the next level? What strategies kept you moving when things were tight?

Let’s talk real hustle and real estate.

As a realtor who started as an investor first, I’ve noticed a huge mindset difference between investors and traditional homebuyers. Investors think in numbers, exit strategies, and long-term plays, while homebuyers think in emotion and monthly payments.

What are some of the biggest differences you’ve noticed when working with or transitioning into real estate investing?

For agents on here—how do you adjust your approach when dealing with investor clients?

For investors—what’s something you wish more realtors understood about working with you?
