Post: Anyone get started in REI later in life?

Hello everyone, I'm wondering how many of you started investing later in life. Anyone start in their 40s, 50s or later?

If so, what has been your experience so far? Are there any strategies or concerns specific to investors who are getting a later start?

Thanks, any insight you may have is most welcome!

@Rick Mills, thanks for posting this! It's an older post, but I'm getting a late start and was wondering who else got started later. I knew I couldn't be the only one.

Thanks for your inspiration, everyone!

@Carol Venolia, I just RSVP'd for the March 1st meetup, hope to see you there! It will be my first time going, so I'm a little nervous.

@Josh Calcanis, I use Cayce Real Estate Services. I've been very happy with them. They were a godsend when I first started renting my house, and the place needed a bunch of repairs. They totally handled it, and are a main reason why I've had such an easy experience with landlording so far.

Welcome, Lane! I'm new here too and am really excited. I lived in Seattle until a couple of years ago. I miss it sometimes, even the weather.

@Alex Rodriguez-Parra, what a beautiful post! Thank you.

@Carol Venolia, I'm excited to see another Sonoma County investor here! I'm just getting into this, and would welcome any insights you have about our area. And what you say about landlording is true for me as well. It's my house, but it's my tenant's home.

Thanks for answering, @Josh Calcanis! The Seattle market is nuts right now. I lived in my West Seattle house for 8 years, then rented it out when I had to move. For what it's worth, I love the property management company I'm using. Very good experience for the last two years.

Of course, the Bay Area where I am now is just as crazy. It might be challenging to find properties here, I think.

@Karin U. congratulations! That must feel wonderful. I'm just getting started, and stories like yours are so inspiring! And way to go closing on your next one. Sounds like you are off and running! I can't wait for the day wen I get to post something similar. :-)

@Paul Timmins

Thanks for taking the time to list all of those resources! I will definitely check them out.

And thanks to everyone for the warm welcome. I'm excited to be a part of BP!

What a great question! I'm just starting out as well, and would like to learn more about tools.

Question for you, Josh. What influenced you to choose Orlando FL as a place to invest? I live in CA, have one rental in Seattle.
