I just want to give a huge shout out to BiggerPockets!

I'm still a newbie in the Real Estate Investing world and know for a fact if I wouldn't have stumbled upon this site while browsing podcasts at work, I would be totally lost. I've met some pretty amazing people on here and have definitely gotten some great advice on how to get started and REI in general.

Thanks again, and goodnight!

Hello @Hattie Dizmond

I have a quick question. Stated below you mentioned that I can repeat the process... Is it true that I can get a FHA loan more than once? or is it just a one time thing for 1st time home buyers?

"Using the FHA loan route, you can get into the first one for 3.5% down. You have to live in it for 1 year, then you can repeat the process."

@Edward Synicky

Just a little update.  I have completed "Rich Dad Poor Dad" and it was amazing.  I am now on the "The Millionaire Real Estate Investor" (Just came in the mail 3 days ago)... I am 100 pages in and it is also amazing and really has gotten my mind racing and exciting to get going.  Thank you again for your input Mr. Synicky

@Okeoma M.

Great post. Looks like you got a lot of great feedback as well that you can use to try and get things going.  I believe it really just boils down to trust.  I think it would be good for the two of you to sit down and you ask him what his long term goals are and then tell him about yours.  He will then see that you really care about his goals and will hopefully press the reset button and give your ideas/plans a chance.

Post: Are there guidelines to choosing Lenders, Bankers or Mortgage Brokers?

Hello BP,

I'm wondering if there are any guidelines to go by when choosing the lender?  Are there certain questions I should be asking?  Obvious red flags?  What am I looking for?

I've been looking into FHA loans since I'm a first time home buyer and I'm really liking the 3.5% down.

My plan for now is to purchase a SFH here in Houston that didn't need too much work but not brand new, live in it for awhile to build equity and then refinance to buy another, while making the first one a rental.

Does that even sound like a good way to get started in RE?

Any thoughts would be highly appreciated... Thank you!

@Theresa Colbert

Quick question: So, once you locate/purchase your property, live in it for a couple years, fix it up and sell it... What happens next.  Do you plan on doing it all over again?

@Theresa Colbert

Hello there, sounds like a good plan.  I've actually been thinking about doing the same thing or at least very similar.  I'm in Houston as well and have had the same questions you have, so I will definitely be folloeing the topic to see what others have to say.

Good luck with everything and keep us updated on what's going on

@Flavio Zanetti That makes a lot of sense about the #StarbucksRule... I will definitely keep that in mind.

@Travis Sperr I will go back 3 quarters and check out the comps.  I'm pretty sure I will find some good info.

@Jean Bolger No worries at all.  It was interesting seeing what you all were talking about. (thanks for the answer)
