Hey @Eli Eddy and Welcome to the BiggerPockets community! If I were 18 years old again with all of the knowledge that I have now I would definitely start with getting a mentor. Feel free to expand a little bit on what exactly you are trying to do in real estate. Are you looking to be an investor? Real estate agent? Wholesaler? The world of real estate is pretty big but you can bet that there are tons of people around you that are doing something that you are interested in. Start looking on places like BiggerPockets, Facebook, LinkedIn for people that you think are killing it and just offer to do whatever is necessary. That's exactly how I got started. I reached out to a realtor in my area saying that I wanted to learn about real estate and he took me under his wing. I started doing assistant work like monitoring his social media sites, responding to inquiries on listings that he had and eventually, I became better at office tasks and started to learn a lot about social media marketing( which I was always interested in and have a background in). A couple of months later he told me I would be a great agent and pushed me to get my license. Now I'm a licensed realtor and we work closely together as colleagues and really great friends. You are young but that shouldn't scare you from being hungry! Network and reach out to people!

It saddens me to say this but there aren't alot of people from West Virginia using this site at the moment. From what I've seen most people that are operating here tend to be in the northern part of the state closer to Maryland and DC. In saying that there is a great opportunity to cultivate relationships from the few members that are in the southern part of the state. We should try to start a meet up in the Charleston area maybe visit the casino and try my luck at Blackjack haha! If you are ever in the Beckley area please feel free to give me a message!

I am the owner of WeAssistWv, which is a virtual assistant company that focuses on realtors here in the state of West Virginia. Not to toot my own horn but I've personally been able to streamline my clients day to day work schedule. There are many sites out there that offer VA services, sites like upwork and Fiverr are some that I would recommend. To be completely honest I would be wary of low cost Va's because the cliche "you get what you pay for" rings very true in this business. Not to say that there isn't any wonderful VA's out there that are charging less than 10 bucks/hour but when it comes to real estate you want to be able to find someone that has experience working with and around investors and realtors. Send me a PM I have a team of qualified VA's that can help with anything from Data entry to client management. Also I would recommend looking into client management software if cost is an issue!

What’s going on BiggerPockets Family ! I’m currently shadowing a realtor who has just picked up a 2 million dollar listing and I’m wondering how I can help with the marketing. I’m looking for the BIG GUNS lol. This is unusual in our area and the regular social media marketing IMO won’t cut it. It’s 13 acres ( priced at 225k per acre) of great real estate near the Highway. He’s going to get a drone videographer to get some footage. I was wondering what other potential marketing opportunities or websites that we could utilize to get this sold. I would love to hear what you guys think and thanks in advance!

@Mike Hinton nice to meet you ! I will definitely look into that. I totally agree with you saying that we are not there yet. I believe we need to get West Virginia updated in a lot of things. Too much potential to see it go to waste due to poor economy.

Definitely a whole different ball game up there around that area much more stable.  Has that area treated you well though ? What’s the median price around that area that you’ve come to experience ?

@Timothy Doenges dude I had to go to the desktop version of the site to see your reply. I can’t see them on my app for some reason but that was beautifully said.  I completely agree with everything you said and when put like that it really makes sense. At this point it sounds like it would almost take a miracle to bring back the housing market here lmao. I guess it will take a fine tooth comb and  hard work but it’s definitely money to be made I’m just unsure about the long term a stabilty here.
