@Matthew Meikle Amazing good stuff currently looking into the listings. This is better than the MLS. Haha.

Let's see what I find I'll report back. Thanks bud and yes house hacking sounds like something that would work. Seems hard to fight multi fam homes or separate dwelling homes in NY though.

Hello everyone. I am new here. I have been following BP for a little while now. I haven't actually pulled the trigger on anything just yet because I am at a sort of a brainstorming phase trying to align myself with the best route to take.

Getting into a small multi family where I would reside on site appeals to me a lot even though I don't necessarily need to live on site but would work.

I have about 30-40k of my saved money to get started.

The million dollar question is where to start!? I live in New York so I can't do much with that money here.

What state do you guys recommend ? I don't mind having a property manager run the place.

Or would buying a 2 -3 family home here in NY and rent it out work out better?

Do I need a real estate license to invest in real estate? It just seem like  that whole deal you just did could of been done without one? I ask because working full time job and 2 kids to raise my time is so limited
