@Account Closed

I think you exactly pinpointed it, i was playing a game and all the stupid assemblies in the gym didn't prepare me for financial freedom. I have read the Rich Dad series as well and it affected me in a profound way.

I have been so humbled because i realized that what i thought about myself wasn't true. I thought i was on a golden path and it turns out it was all fool's gold (horrible cliche but i deserve it)

To be clear i am not looking for people to tell me it's not my fault or feel bad for me. I am fully aware that i got myself into this mess and am thankful that i can at least see the path out.

What i am looking for is to share the experience with this community and listen and learn to any wisdom that they are willing to impart to me.

@Troy Fisher

Every two weeks we net a paycheck of $3,958 so bimonthly we make a hair under $8000 from base pay. Our expenses (as they currently sit) are $6500 give or take a few dollars. leaving us with $1500 a month to put towards credit cards.

If I take into account semi annual bonuses I qualify for I can make a safe assumption that within 24 (give or take a few months based on sales incentives and bonuses)months i will be debt free.

The goal right now of course is to lower my expenses. I will be posting my full expenses here over the weekend so i have no where to hide or pretend that everything is ok. I know that it isn't right now but it will be soon.

At the same time i will educate myself and keep asking for the advice of people in this thread

@David Dachtera

I try not to use Google for knowledge just information (who was in that movie? or how do i get somewhere? etc.).

I know it sounds strange but i believe that true education comes from learning from wiser more experienced people and has a social aspect. The social interaction is what makes it stick for me and leads to true critical thought.

I Iove reading but i do that to learn a whole subject not one specific point and after i read a book i make a point of discussing it with people to gain real insight.

Sorry for sounding a little preachy.

@Joel Owens

Davis as in David Krulac? How would i get in touch with him, is he a member here? watching and learning from someone is what i would love to do, it is also the way i teach the members of my team at work.

@Austin Fruechting

So pay off cards but after that invest before paying of the 3.25% (we used to have great credit) mortgage? makes sense. What types of Real Estate investments do you favor?

@Joel Owens

I like the milestone idea, when do you think they should be? i'm thinking as i get a card paid off (not sure i mentioned it but i have 11 cards, flame away).

i have never heard of tax deed investing ,is it the same as tax liens? Either way i will be researching it intently and add the book you suggested to my 1 book a week pledge.

@Everybody

I will never stop thanking this community for the amazing help and advice that you all have shown me in such a short time. Thank you and keep it coming please.

@David Dachtera

I've ran the numbers and it seems like there isn't a big difference between avalanch and smowballing. Can you point me to more information so i can educate myself?

To what end do you develop the relationships with private lenders if you don't have cash to pay them back until your debt is paid?

I'm not arguing with you and i am totally open to contrarian though i'm just trying to understand your though process.

@Jon Q.

Your battle cries and logic make me want to jump right into investing and owning right now but (big but) i need to first focus on getting out of debt right?

Does it make sense for me to use some of the money i have allocated to pay off debt to start investing instead of just focusing on debt repayment alone?

I can see the logic of just focusing on debt, but i can also see the logic of using some of the funds to start generating some passive income to use to repay the debt as well.

What do you think?
