What are some Security Systems out there that pair well with a 30-unit Class C multifamily building? Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance!

It can come down to what you want/need.

There are many fairly good systems.

This is a general response, naming attributes, based on your post and what I would want personally:

-Monitored, police response

-motion sensors in appropriate areas

-cameras both indoor (public areas)  & outdoors - motion activated, records to cloud, holds for minimum 48 hours, w/ audio capability

-remote light switch control

-remote alarm mode settings : on, off, at home

-remote lock / unlock entrance

-remote doorbell camera (service, delivery interaction)

-temperature & flood sensors around appropiate areas

-alert capability (various) set for your concerns

-ample exterior motion dection led lighting, some solar powered lights that illuminate all night

-phone app that you are comfortable using

There are more attributes I would want but I'll stop here.

Some of the above fall under home automation and it is directly related to security.

There are a good number of systems that achieve the above.

In my humble opinion, technology should be a landlord's/propery manager's best friend.  The abilities, including view inside & outside, along with other information provided can keep a property much more secure and give the human counterpart peace of mind.

I'm in Chicago too. If you have any questions feel free to contact me.

Nest cameras (indoor / outdoor). The monthly or annual costs can add up but to me are well worth it. Cameras are always a plus in my books. Cost of the cameras aren't cheap either but there are some good advantages. The cameras offer amazing quality and sound. The cameras can record and backup to their cloud based platform for either 10 days or 30 days. Depending on your building layout, these may work for you. I'm tired of the DVR systems, they always seem to have issues. Very user friendly cameras. Good luck!

DAWGS does a great job in the city of Chicago might be pricey though

Thanks, using dogs may be too aggressive. I don't think the insurance company would allow that for liability purposes.

Hi @Dennis Moynihan , I'm not sure if you understood @Alex Bok when he mentioned that you should try using "DAWGS" as a security system because DAWGS is the name of a company that can protect your properties from vandalism. They have metal door & window guards that are placed on the properties(if you've visited some streets in the city, you probably have seen these on boarded up properties. You can check out more info about them at  http://www.dawgsinc.com/ Hope This Helps

Security for yourself possibly a 9mm.

Tenants will likely supply their own security.
