Very new (future) investor! I'm hoping to connect!

Posted

Hi my name is Imani and I'm looking to invest in real estate in Charlotte. I'm about 6 hours away from the area but am looking to move down there in the near future. I don't have any direct experience with real estate investing but I've been inspired by the amount of internet research I've done, talking to a few friends, and my readings (i.e How to Invest in Real Estate, Rich Dad Poor Dad, 12 week year, etc.).

I'm interested in initially just buying a house and renting it out to a few people, and then eventually getting into BRRRR sometime afterwords.

Would love to connect with anyone out here! And please feel free to leave any helpful tips. For example, I've heard it's generally better to invest in the suburbs rather than places like Uptown because there's just too much competition with apartments, condos, etc.

Hey there,

I am an investor and I also work in the field as my day job...I am happy to talk should you want to chat. I find it helpful to talk a lot of things out so that you can narrow down your search. The more targeted you are, especially in this crazy market, the better your chances of landing a deal are. I am looking to get into something small in Charlotte this year myself -- so feel free to send me a message!

A few things come to mind of the bat: Do you have any localized understanding of the market(s) you're looking at yet? Are you going to hold long-term, or is this a stepping stone to a larger or different property? There's obviously a lot that goes into it, but generally speaking it's a pretty simple business model...with somewhat foreseeable results.

@Imani Porter-Clinton Hello Imani, I'm a beginning investor out here in Charlotte as well I live here though. from my experience so far there's opportunities in Charlotte but you have to really generate good leads. that's probably the main thing I struggle with right now. I've also been doing some driving for dalliers in the surrounding suburbs as well. there's plenty of property. the price point is a little higher but it's a fast growing area and I believe it was just listed as one of the hottest markets for 2022 let's definitely connect for sure. I'm looking to expand my network

Hi @Imani Porter-Clinton

First off congrats on taking the first step and posting here on BP. Charlotte ranks among the hottest real estate markets in the U.S so a great place to invest most of my BP clients had a 20% appreciation last year. If you like to get some market reports please feel free to reach out. I hope the helps! Good luck with your journey!

    Congrats Imani.

House hacking is a great way to get started and then transitioning into the BRRRR strategy (my favorite strategy ever).

I am an agent and investor in the Charlotte area and my team specializes in helping investors, specifically by BRRRRing properties so we can get the desired returns.

    Would love to connect.
