CFRI is this Wednesday at Edgewater High School in Orlando. It's always a good one. There's also a newer group that I haven't been to yet, but I've heard good things about it. http://www.goreia.com

We are having a small meet up in Ft. Lauderdale. Wednesday June 10th, 7pm we will be discussing IRA and Private Capital Fund Raising. We will be going over tips and tricks of the trade when it comes to raising private capital for your real estate needs. It is free. @Sheena Varghese, check out their website. They have a ton of different focus groups; one for each county, and then groups for various investment strategies, such as Landlording, money 101, etc. These groups are smaller too. The women's investor group has their meeting this Monday during lunch. I think it's members only though. All the info is on the website. CFRI.net. They're definitely good for those starting out.

Welcome to BP.  It's always nice to see another local on here.  

I see that you've already hit the hurdle of finding it difficult to make the REI meets. Don't be too hard on your self as it is the same issue with a lot of us. However, in saying that, do try and make to it a few, as I hear that the contacts made there have good value.

Alternatively, ask here.  There are a few Orlandonians(?) here that have good experience and are very willing to help.

The CFRI and GOREIA websites suuureee do look similar.  What's the catch?

Yes, I noticed the same thing.  CFRI is a non-profit that was started back in the late 80's and as I understand it, GOREIA was recently started by Robyn Thompson, "The Queen of Rehab" and a student of Ron LeGrand.  It looks like she is following the same format as CFRI.

There is also IRC (Investors Resource Center) headed up by Chuck Bart, that meets in Winter Park.
