@Dan Oliver - thanks for you input. And yes, you answered my question. The only doubt that I still have is that if I put the property under a trust after the closing date, public records will show my name and then the change to the land trust without a sell, which I think will defeat the purpose of the privacy on a land trust.

Is this what's going to happen? I'm new in all this. I really appreciate you advise.

The property that I'm about to get will potentially become a rental in the future. Should I put that property under a trust now before the closing of the mortgage or it will not matter to do it later? Will having the mortgage loan under my name defeat the purpose of the trust?

Wayne Brooks , I didn't know the fact about the tax. Thanks! So am I correct in assuming that a land trust work for properties that you're planning to keep (e.g.,rentals), not short-term investment? Lorenn

Kati,

Thanks for the information. I just joined the website and was looking for a group.

Thank you, @Steve Vaughan.

Hello,

I'm buying my first property (single family home) that I'm going to live in, but it's going to be my window to realty investing.

Since the house it's going to have a conventional 30-year loan under my name tied to it, is it really worth it to create a land trust for this property? Since the loan is under my name, I'm thinking that the loan will reveal my name anyway. Is this correct?

Thanks for your help.
