My wife and I are remodeling a 1940s bungalow-style home in St Petersburg, and after several months of interior work, we need design help and drawings of the front exterior for our contractor to gain permits from the city and move forward with the project.The original front entrance of the home was covered with an addition built by previous owners, and we'd like to boost curb appeal and value by adding a driveway, front steps, a new door with sidelights, and an overhang jutting out from the gable with columns. 

Then create a patio/entry for each lower unit by a simple screen of an above-ground planter from the post to the stairs, or maybe at an angle to where the stairs begin.The rest is comparatively very simple... don't paint the brick, do the siding in a darker dusty green, the window muntins in a very dark gray (it'll match the black powder-coated hog wire balusters), get a very LARGE round fake attic vent for the gable,https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/2196/8707/produc...and install a clete at the bottom of the gable which will look like a horizontal supporting member for the second-story columns.Lose those shutters, paint the entry doors a very deep, rich color, with the first and second story doors slightly different.

Out side lights go dark for months.  

Sometimes the exterior doors are too, and those can be expensive on these old houses, many have sidelights or transom windows above them that drive up the cost.Let me know if you have any other questions, I'll do my best to answer them.Derreck

Use a third, darker color on the window sashes and muntins for extra depth, or leave them white like the casings.

The West Side light rail station is also a plus for the area. 

The door had been broken along with the sidelights.

Front door could be a fancy shmancy $1000 door with double side lights where the opening has to be rebuilt and toilet seats with gold inlays.

I put in a wider front door (with a sidelight), bout otherwise stayed true to the line drawing.Good Luck!

I see people have suggested rebuilding the porch, but what if you left the porch the same size but made the doorway a little more impressive with some sidelight windows?
