Prob the difference here is that my renter market would be much larger and easier to predict.As I write this, I think a lot of this question comes from all the STR success I hear/read about and this market is especially good for that during elections as well, so I guess I am trying to figure out if that is a fad that I am too late on or if it is something I should seriously consider, especially since I kind of have a unique access to a steady stream of renters...I did talk to someone who isn't even downtown and he said leading up to elections he rents his basement unit for $300/mo and it was not even updated!

Unless your husband has a strong foodservice background, is very talented, knows exactly what he's doing and has a very special unique selling proposition you will have a hard time making any serious money in that business right now.

HGTV consumers seem to be obsessed with cooler tones (grays, off whites, etc) these days + a couple of "unique" features that make things pop (light fixtures, a whole wood paneled accent wall, etc.).

You'll need to make sure you hire an attorney who is familiar with the very specialized law having to do with Alabama tax sales.Please do not take advice from anyone from any other state, because Alabama tax sale laws is completely unique and not at all intuitive and absolutely cannot be learned simply by reading the statutes.
