He is now in South American with his wife and kids spending time abroad while the real estate investing portfolio is running itself.My goals for real estate investing is to start wholesaling locally, and possibly out of state in Cleveland, Ohio area (my wife is from there), to build my network with other investors and buyers and hone my skills when it comes to marketing, cold calling, and negotiating.

Instead I would rather take the skills that I have developed all of my adult life and take that into note investing and build a generational legacy of wealth for my family.

Technology can disrupt it but not replace it, particularly for the skilled agents/brokers.

Old and dusty DIYers like me, asset management syndicators and maybe a middle of road owner that uses a PM.Funny you mention needing good handyman skills. 

I'm definitely cautious, and have limited DIY skills.

In addition, I also knew the skills that I would be gaining would be useful elsewhere.
