I did talk to the planner, the process was stated and approved through the tentative map step but the current owner pulled that and moved out of the country so I will be back at square one. 

I do feel though that you need a certain level of momentum before it makes sense to hire one.

It is usually simpler to hire someone to maintain the property and include the cost in the rent.

They only find the unit and may reach out to you if they're really interested but you have to do the actual booking process offline.

Background is she’s about 4 months behind in total rent, original lease ended in December, now going month to month because I didn’t want to put her out as she’s a single mother with 3 kids (also didn’t have the bandwidth to go through the eviction process because this property is in another city)I hired a property manager to help and we’ve recouped a bit of money but she’s still about 6500 owed.
