Hello biggerpockets,I am trying to understand all the potential *legal* issues I can run into by trying to split a regular single family home that is zoned as such into essentially a duplex with 2 separate tenants, one living in the house and the other in the basement.

I won't be investing in the riskiest/most supportable asset subclasses such as hotels, and tilt my portfolio the ones that have historically been more stable such as multifamily and single-family housing.

I want to put a team around me that I can trust as my second family.

I would definatly take $ off the rent for the inconvenience especially if its a family with kids .

Military, government workers, families relocating or displaced due to a tragedy, students traveling for internships, and digital nomads are all different customers who need temporary furnished housing. 2. 

This is small multi family or SFR.

A friend of mine has a few multi-families around the Rockland, Waldoboro, and South Thomaston areas in Maine.
