I wanted our first RE investment in the next few months to be a flip but I’m hearing bad stories everywhere- being charged way too much, not enough labor , contractors taking forever due to shortages, etc….

If they did notify the HOA why didn't the HOA notify you since you *(or your parents) are the owner.All the above said I would not be surprised if there is more to the story then we are hearing and maybe that you are hearing from your parents.
