My parents got their dog certified over the Internet, dog is a brat, for not that much.I am very happy their may be more fairness with airlines on animals on flights, but unfortunately this is totally separate from the housing ESA issue.A photographer I know in California, mentioned they saw more dogs at complexes that were supposedly pet free, than those that were not.At this time, there is not requirement for certification of service animals, and it may be trained by a non certified person.

We finally have gay marriage in CA and the Department of Veterans Affairs is no longer in the stone age, but I used to have to engage in completely stupid shenanigans (lawful shenanigans, but still clearly shenanigans) to be able to count the income of a gay veteran's significant other when using a VA Loan.

There is a Federal Program (Administration for Community Living) that provides funding and technical support to Community Development and Housing Preservation organizations throughout the country that focus on building or restoring housing that can then be used for Supportive Housing (http://www.acl.gov/About_ACL/FederalInitiatives/Ho...)The challenge is that the majority of this funding is targeted to the chronically homeless, Veterans, and people with HIV/AIDS.

@Art Maydan I am neither a seasoned veteran nor a lawyer, but I don't see how an individual landlord/manager could be expected to respond to every single inquiry that comes their way.However, I know very little about the fine print on the Fair Housing ordinance, so I too am curious about at what all is considered "discriminating" against a prospective tenant.

-Taped on the inside of the door...If you leave it on the door, it is suggested that you take a dated photograph of the posting as proof that it was done, along with photographing the property / unit address or other identifying info.
