"Getting the banks eggs in with yours into the same basket" is nice advice, except that the bank has far more backup than your $500k, and far more bailout options when the **** hits the fan - whereas all you have is those properties or whatever's left liquid of your cash.You say you've lived overseas (still are), and plan to use PMs, so I'm assuming you're not planning to be hands-on.
