I get an email alert each time a deposit is made.I prefer not to use any third-party vendors (Zelle, etc.) because firstly, that creates another link in the chain that can break down between the tenant's deposit and my bank account.

You'll probably even get to the point of countering the bank's counter on your initial offer and play that game a little while; but if it gets to a point where they won't go any lower than the highest amount you are willing to pay, you can always go higher up in the bank's chain of command and fight your way through to someone who can come to an agreed price.
