Why not do it now so Neighbors and tenant’s in the area don’t label this house as a slumlord owner thus causing you to get only the bottom feeders as future tenants.

Once you do decide to procure your first rental, definitely lean on the BiggerPockets community as a resource; I'll also say that it could be worth considering a shot at a software solution built for DIY landlords (1 - 15 units) to bring some automation to the rental management process (just to make things much much easier for you)!

If this is a room (like would be in this case), the room has to be labeled with a letter or number, and the tenant would have go be home to give access to room that is labeled to match all the court paperwork.

In going up it was due to the roof line and there being an attic space.Adding a room on by going out needs to consider existing configuration and aspect to enhance flow and comfort of the layout.With a big lot then going out seems the most obvious solution but what are other homes like in the area?
