A couple of things I can think of right now:  I picked this one up from,  Long Distance Real Estate Investing by David Greene.

I understand wanting to jump in with both feet to get started, but I guarantee that you will regret doing this from a distance.

From a long distance perspective that’s gonna be hard to get into in Raleigh.  

What I'm wondering is, is this a bad idea to start out flipping long distance with relatively little experience but with a decent network.  

Either way, there should be options within walking distance that would be easy to rent to students while you're there and after.

Sounds like you will need to move or invest long distance, which is extremely dangerous especially for flipping.

I’ve heard some people say that walking through properties isn’t necessary especially for those investing “long distance” what are your thoughts on this?

My husband is in the military so we have already decided that long distance investing will be our main focus since it is necessary due to us moving every three years.

If this is your first time doing it you may want to bring in someone with more experience to assist due to time constraints.
