Good areas in DFW/San Antonio Areas to invest in real estate

Hello fellow BP members!

I am new to bigger pockets and have been researching along with my husband on how to start investing in real estate! My husband is in the military so we have already decided that long distance investing will be our main focus since it is necessary due to us moving every three years. We currently live in El Paso and own a home here which we will turn into a rental once our time here is over. However, we would like to invest in other properties in order to start our real estate investing adventure!

We have decided we do not want to invest in El Paso past the house we already own, so we are looking to invest in the Dallas/Fort Worth areas and the San Antonio area. We have 150-200k to invest and we are interested in starting our investment journey with single family homes. We would like to get the ball rolling with the BRRRR method so a home that needs some work is best.

If anyone can shed some light on areas that this is possible to achieve in DFW or San Antonio, I would love to hear your insight and get a conversation going! :)

Thank you!

Hi Meagan, congratulations on your new journey. are you looking to stick to single family properties or are you also looking to venture into some multi family (duplexes, triplexes, quadplexes)? from my experience working with investors, they typically prefer to invest in northeast/northwest San Antonio. reason being homes in those areas are typically built in the late 70's and up. They require less work and school districts seem to be better. If you are looking for cash flow you can definitely find some great deals for some multi-family properties in the southwest, south, and southeast side of San Antonio. It really all depends on your strategy.
