I've dedicated a lot of time over the last year researching and learning about REI, but I have not yet acquired my first property.  

I've set a 10 year goal for myself to acquire 50 rental units.

As long as you aren't acquiring in a war zone you should be ok.

And it sounds like there's a bit of a bias from experience against acquiring a list of property owners of multi-family properties.
