If you bring a verifiable deal to someone with capital or experience, you'll get a seat on the bus ... it may not be a very big seat, but you will be able to see all the action and learn.Another way to get to ride the bus - standing only - is to work for someone with capital and/or experience and be their gopher/office boy/driver/whatever that allows you to tag along, work for your keep, and learn.

There may be some small appreciation coming our way near term though, with the huge boom Seattle has been going through and the fact that nobody wants to drive in Seattle means a trickle down effect in surrounding areas and a ferry ride is a pretty good commute option for people.
