You can set up alerts for any mentions of local areas.

That can easily be solved by joining the local REIA (Bluegrass Real Estate Investors Group) also like Ryan has mentioned.

Locating one will be challenging just like @Russell Brazil had mentioned. 

Don't mention rental assistance unless she brings it up, then tell her you are not interested in accepting this help.

It was in one of their classes that I heard a woman mention Bigger Pockets.Months later, I went to an REIA intro class here in Addison.

I wondered the same thing at first but the advantages of starting your investing outweighs waiting to start. 1.

Plus anything beats waiting tables as I did thru out college.
