OK, This is where I'd put on my internet sleuthing hat.Check for all social media pages of the landlord first to try to determine if the person is a real person.

Given my newbie status, I'm not sure how much help I can offer at this point, but I can certainly offer what I've learned so far. 

Stay tuned for that as it might be a cool social expirement and would definitely be helpful to me.

It doesn't cost me anything, helps my friend, and lifts a lot of the closing process off my shoulders (such as checking on title search status and keeping the closing on schedule).

Not being a jerk my man, but if I recently came into  a lot of money, but didn't want folks to know a lot of the details per se....I probably wouldn't go onto a social media website with my picture, first name, last name and city I live in and say that "I just came into a lot of money".
