You have to be good at marketing the property online to get people away from hostels and hotels, there is a lot of competition.

There were points in 2003/4 that I alternated living in a storage unit, my car, and hotels.

I ended up driving my own cab downtown to my hotel - after demonstrating to the cabbie I was a Canadian and well versed in driving on snow and ice.

The difference would have bought a plane ticket and hotel.

Columns Hotel- for an elegant, peaceful night of cocktails... they sometimes have great live music- depends on the night. 

I think how you optimize is determined by the tenant base that exist in the area you want to own in and eviction laws.I have also seen a variation where the landlord collects weekly almost like a hotel.
