for Portland folks I always recommend the Rarebird meetups.. these actually have great content and guest speakers . the casual meetups around town to me personally are not worth fighting through the traffic.. its more social time.so if want want to go a meeting that has some real content and run by a couple of sharp investors this is the one to go to in my mind.

You must abide by Fair Housing laws, so I would recommend obtaining a letter from a licensed professional (i.e. social worker, psychiatrist, psychologist) and setting some ground rules as Nathan said.
