What steps do I take?

I have tried marketing to these groups but skipped this step, which is why I believe I am having little success.

first steps: learn, network, (build capital), take action!

I'm not at all trying to deter you, It's an awesome industry, and there are so many happy people that have taken this step, I just think it takes longer than people expect.

Any advice on the first few steps to take ?
