learning about permits... when do I need one, what is structural, what needs to be inspected and what doesn't, when I can pull my own, when the county will require me to hire a general or other licensed professional for the permit, etc. 

How is your current pay structured?

The branding in particular would be done in the content that I produced to advertise the open rooms along with physical branding on the outside of each house (ie distinctive color accents and perhaps even an led sign).

As happens periodically everywhere, SoCal just had a case daylight where two guys had masqueraded for years as structural engineers and defrauded hundreds of resi and commercial clients for construction projects that were built - and now may require full demolition!
