For them, it was not intentional.Other people can knowingly purchase negative cash-flowing properties if it gives exposure to rapid price appreciation in a hot area or an area that is on the path of progress.Personally I'd happily buy properties and be negative each month if they are in areas where there are major developments coming up in the near and whose funding have been secured by the promoters.

@Carrie Hatcher My wife is a financial planner, and they’re very good at what they do, through her I’ve interacted with quite a few financial planners, I’ve found most of them go blank faced when you try to have actual real estate investment conversations and most aren’t well versed in the type of investing that BiggerPockets promotes, I’d lean towards a real estate experienced CPA I’d recommend Brandon Cox with BMC Accounting out of Toledo OH

I use the Capital One QuickSilver for everyday use 1.5% back, Lowes Credit Card gives you 5% cashback if you are rehabbing and special financing of up 24 months interest free (You have to catch the promotion at certain times).

The answer is it depends.It depends on the location and what might attract people to your property, amenities, competition, your purchase price, how well you take pictures and furnish the property, how active you are in promoting the property, having a good support staff (mainly excellent cleaners/s).
