On utilities, I bought a foreclosure in NJ and found out it was not attached to Town sewer and I actually had to extend the main line up to my property then put the lateral in and abandon an old cesspool.  

Also, how old are your capex items? 

A 60 year old man, probably sleeping now on couch, if lucky.

Funny thing is this thread is pretty old and we just returned Saturday night from another trip to CR.  

You will need to find someone who would rather go back to Costa Rica again and again, like having a second home there, rather than traveling to different parts of the world.  

Real estate investing requires a good deal of research, so build your arsenal and over time you'll be an old pro. 

You also avoid lender/broker overlays which are handcuffs in the finance world. 

Kind of reminds me of the old ranch style, with a bit more privacy and access.

Not nearly as far as it did when I got started... ugh I hate that I am now old enough to say such a thing.
