The purpose of this post is to receive guidance on how my wife and I can begin in our investment journey.

Dies anyone have any ideas on how to proceed or has anyone dealt with a situation like this that can offer help or guidance.

Need guidance on first investment

The guidance doesn't seem to speak specifically to which side of a 401k you can take the hardship distribution from, but it seems like taking it from the Roth side would be fine. 

I am excited about starting this journey and I could not think of a better place to come for guidance.

A lot of forum members are very knowledgeable in their respective fields related to real estate investing, whether that is real estate sales, wholesaling, flipping, rentals, lending, self-directed IRA and Solo 401k investing, or tax and legal guidance.

And as for your calc numbers, I am going in at 5% and incurring a PMI of 150 if I were to follow through with a not so sound investment, however, I am purely in the questioning phase and any guidance from you guys is of true value for me at this point.
