It's in the small print that nobody reads when you fill out the credit card app.The other thing with collections that people do not understand is ONE COLLECTION can destroy your credit.Example say you have 760 score.Apartment says you owe 1,000.They send to ABC collection company and you offer 500 and instead the collection company starts dinging your credit.They do not collect anything so ABC sells it to DEF and they don't collect after 5 months and sell to GHI.Now you have THREE collections on your credit report from that one account!
