There should have also been disclosures stating that this investment was highly illiquid and it was unlikely you would be able to get out until the deal completely wound down.Unless there's something more complex going on, you are certainly not entitled to 24% of the value of the property.

Im not sure what  the real estate market is like in Indiana but 50K for a duplex sounds like its  run down or in a bad area... but maybe(hopefully) u find a good deal at that price.If it is run down remember to add in repair costs.
