Sorry in advance for the long post but it adds context to my question.I just moved over to the USA with my wife (US Citizen) from the UK, she got an amazing opportunity in AZ and we couldn't turn it down.

Professionally, I'm a qualified insurance broker, though outside of profession i'm an aspiring amateur jazz guitarist and muay thai fighter.Let's see what comes out of this crazy real estate dream:-Real estate goal: From scratch build a 1.5 million pound real estate portfolio in London (UK)  and England.Timeline : within the next 5 years.Strategy: A) Type- Multifamily units,  apartments B) Tactic- Buy and Hold, House Hacking C)Financing- Conventional mortgages, partnerships, private money As of now I'm currently seeking mentors and experienced investors (preferably local) to bounce ideas off and possibly partner with moving forward.I am also working on improving my ability to analyze and select good deals on a consistent basis.Look forward to interacting with you all in the near future,Many thanks,Mayo

I've nearly finished school in the UK myself, I was just wondering where you educated yourself without going to university and how long you needed to become confident in investing.

I was also very impressed with the amount of new immigrants in PG and the quality of post secondary schooling.North Island, specifically CR and Comox is still having record low vacancies with extremely high rents ($1700 to $2000 top floor of home, $1000 to $1200 for bottom floor suite and suites are in huge demand) but the buzz is out, so now door knocking seems to be the only reasonable means of finding a "deal". 

Real estate helped me with financial stability after immigrating to Chicago in 1986 with $15 ( It was actually $20 but spent $5 on pastries at the layover airport).

With immigration this problem should work itself out.Low cost housing should stay in demand, mcmansions, maybe not.What people on this site propose is to buy property that makes sense today and don't expect appreciation to fix negative cash-flow.In any case, some areas can experience vacancy problems.
