Check with your local building department-you can ask the general question without giving an address. 

I have already talked to the zoning department for my area and confirmed that I can build a "guest house" if I have no intention to rent it out (but of course I do).

Theoretically, in a rising cap rate environment, a bank's portfolio management department could review their loans and decide to call due buildings which are underwater.

Easy to check for, call water department and have them confirm the water isn’t running constantly.

@Tyler Mace what is your opinoun of the East Gateway Submarket near Sandia National Labratory.I work for the Fire Department in a warzone so I am not really turned off by these area, but I know they can vary city to city. 

I'd first reach out to your title office for reference on how it's handled in your state.If, instead, they are looking for some sort of certification that it is properly tied down to the foundation, I'd think you could call your county building department about that to see if it's an inspection process. 

I will figure out a strategy to find them in person as their address isn’t listed, but I think they are at the local police department.

The upside to making this shift in my opinion is again the experience in marketing, engaging with customers(buyers/sellers), and surrounding myself with other like minded people.The downside is, at a starting position in a marketing department, I'd be lucky to earn half(or maybe even less than half) of my current income!
