Roots in one of our rental property sewer line

Thad Frame
Posted

Found out this morning that we have a good portion of roots that are blocking our sewer line. We have had several back-up issues the past year and looking to see what options are out there to get this fixed? Has anyone had to deal with this issue as well?

Thanks for your time!

    @Brad Bellstedt

    There was a big uproar over those mailings as you will notice the city of Las Vegas seal is on them. They get a kickback from the company for using their seal and making it look official.

    I have never heard of a sewer line problem. The water lines do have a problem “some times” (I was going to put frequently or often but it’s not that often.) I have 13 properties and I’ve replaced the main water line at 3 of them and they are all less than 25 years old.

    Drive your rentals neighborhood and look for cuts in the driveways as many main water valves are in the garage and you can see the cuts (the most expensive repairs, pry $6k to the plumber and then the drywall and painters.  If it’s just dirt covered it’s closer to $4k. They usually don’t, and you don’t want them to, repair the line. Have them run an entire new one, as it’s all the same age.

    Easy to check for, call water department and have them confirm the water isn’t running constantly. (They can confirm if it has or hasn’t in less than a minute.)

    ps. Replace front yard plums, mesquites, etc, with palm trees, their roots tend to go straight down, saving pipe and concrete damage.
