I have been doing a very slow crawl (while I clean up past financial mistakes & save cash for future successes) to get into the investment side, but have been working to gather some priceless experience along the way.We purchased our first home in 2005 and that became our very first rental in 2009!

Financially, it's helped big time, both short and long term.  

I didn't feel comfortable working in this survival-oriented environment (the bottom rung of Maslow's hierarchy of needs), but I had a hungry mortgage to feed every month.Those times made me yearn for financial independence where I would more than cover my living expenses with investment income and not have to be concerned with the price of gasoline or the chip industry's "book to bill" ratio.

I am dealing with four properties with them as I have financial power of attorney for my ill father, who owns them (so this is all quite new to me).

I'm looking to learn, network and grow financially and mentally and branch out to to other areas of real estate, and look forward to soak up everything I can.Cheers,Doug  

We just cleared our school loan debt and are working towards the ultimate goal of Financial Independence.

I have a financial adviser but he's a stocks/bonds/etc. person, and I don't want to increase my holdings in that area of finance any further, so I don't really know what kind of person to look for, for advice of this nature.
