A 1042 is issued to a non-American who receives US source income (similar to a 1099).  

It is the American dream to own a home!

But as a young adult, I think getting reliable income and continuing to learn are your best options.I also highly recommend staying local for your first few deals.

Thanks @Jason Hirko, problem I seem to be running into is finding a lender that accepts 20% down on a rental property even though I have no US tax returns or income or really anything American.

From what i've heard though, they make good tenants and there's rarely issues, especially when they're young privates and their landlord is someone higher ranking than them.Any other advice or tips on Canadian real estate investing you have would be welcomed, as most of the  research I have done is american-centric.Thanks again for your reply, Much appreciated
