Hi, I am new to BP and new to investing.  I'm currently deployed with the Canadian military and have been in the army for more than 10 years now.  I've recently had a huge revelation with how I look at money and finances, and intend to invest the extra money I will make while overseas.

My immediate plan for when I get back is to significantly downsize my expenses by renting out my current house and buy a new one to start house hacking.  With the money I will save by no longer paying a mortgage, I intend to continue house hacking from house to house and/or invest in student rentals as there is a college near me with inexpensive homes nearby.

Serving in the military is not something I intend to do for the rest of my life, and going back to a 9-5 is out of the question.  I am interested in real estate for the long term passive income it provides.  My girlfriend and I dream of escaping the rat race and buying a yacht to travel around the world.  Investing and saving for the purchase price of the boat is one thing, but we will also require that passive income to keep us afloat long term.  That is what motivates me, and why I am so eager to learn.

I've been listening to the podcasts quite a bit lately and reading some books, and look forward to getting back to Canada and connecting with some other members for any help and advice I can get.

Thanks for taking the time to read my post

Adam
