I am currently renting another house in the same area as my residence.I have decided to take the leap and grow my STR business. 

She keeps mentioning that they will "see how much we paid", which in all fairness, was low due to the condition of the property (think large pole barn, garage, house and pasture full of 20 years of junk plus an abandoned mobile home that may or may not have been used as a grow house).

As far as fix/flip vs renting out, you have to decide if you want to make money off of this now (flip) or hold and keep an asset that may not bring much money now, but will grow in equity over time.
