@Jeff Trevarthen  - I would encourage you to setup keyword alerts on BP if you have not done so already and/or search for out of state investing, turnkey properties, etc. you will find a ton of info on BP about options for investing.

I used to have a similar 401K company that I set up with Guidant Financial (GFG) as well, and later spoke with several ERISA attorneys and CPAs who indicated that these types of products were being investigated by the Department of Labor.

I am investigating it for a flip we are about to stop.

Further investigation with their department with access to GMAC info (a chore in itself to get to) the supervisor said that we were told this incorrectly-- that in fact it was because GMAC had had a bankruptcy!
