When I found the water meter locked I contacted the government owned utility and explained the tenant, who had contracted for the service, had left and the utility immediately had the lock removed and restored the service.I don't know the laws regarding utility liens in SC well enough to comment on their right to a lien, but I've always found it's worth a call to first to find out the statutory basis for a claimed lien and if I agree with their right to a lien to try and negotiate a reduction in the amount demanded.

I was sitting here reading the news this morning and lo and behold I see the US government is close to pushing another stimulus package as well as lengthening the “no eviction” mandate to the end of the year.

Often trash, water, civil penalties, government fixes such as weed abatement, building violations, taxes, HOA/PAO bills are not paid and become your bills.

Your Uncle won’t like all of these questions but explain does he want you or the government to receive his money.

Asking because if I have a tenant getting aid, just curious as to how much I would lose if I only got the government check.

My only concern is that I am worried about the COVID bills that are being passed about any government-backed loans, I do not want to be put in a rough spot right off the bat on my first property.

I did just find out about the government protections being extended, so no it would have no teeth.
