My plan is to purchase through an FHA loan, live in one of the three uints for 1-2yrs, then refinance to a conventional  loan and repeat the process till I have 2-5 under my belt.

There is a plethora of great information on here.In the future, once you get some experience under your belt, you can use your VA loan to buy a primary residence.

Once you have that year or so under your belt you find a mother one to live in, buy it with a low down payment loan and you are on your way to becoming an investor.Once you won a couple of properties it starts to get easier and more options become available.Congratulations and always happy to answer any questions or provide assistance in your venture.

I think the city is still a good investment area although we're all facing the decreasing population problems of the rest of the rust belt.
