Having a heavy social media presence is a huge way to get your name out there.

Be active on your social media platforms and create your own brand.

I have never been a very social person so I will be working on getting comfortable networking which will be my biggest hurdle.

There are also dozens more who you will never see on BP or any other social media site.

for Portland folks I always recommend the Rarebird meetups.. these actually have great content and guest speakers . the casual meetups around town to me personally are not worth fighting through the traffic.. its more social time.so if want want to go a meeting that has some real content and run by a couple of sharp investors this is the one to go to in my mind.

You must abide by Fair Housing laws, so I would recommend obtaining a letter from a licensed professional (i.e. social worker, psychiatrist, psychologist) and setting some ground rules as Nathan said.

We personally use lots of social media to generate leads.

Our motivation now is to manage with a double bottom line, investing for economic returns as well as positive social impact. 

I just graduated from college in 2018 and can tell you that I connected with many of my mentors (and even my boss who hired me) through unconventional ways and having a quality social life was the reason for that.
